Weekly Wrap Up : October 28

In my life this week…

One of the most stressful days of my life was sitting in the Pediatric Cardiologist’s on Monday while the Dr. talks to me about the EKG & ECHO Cardiogram we just had on our boy E.  There was so much adrenalin coursing through  my body – even though I knew no matter what it would all be fine.  I knew that.  In my mind, but my heart was still scared that this doctor could have horrible news.

all hooked up

{his legs are not really this long, camera phone angle shot –

but he is still pretty cute!}

Weekly Wrap Up : Sept 23rd

In my life this week…

We had a much better week of school!  Amazing how, when you change a little thing, it can affect the whole day!!  We did not do much outside of school this week, but it was a good week and cooler weather seems to have arrived & we are all thrilled about that!!

In our homeschool this week…

We flip-flopped.  Whew.  Who knew?

I always subscribed to doing the “hard” stuff first, and then coasting the rest of the day.  For 3 years we have done math and handwriting first, then followed by reading and other stuff.

Our days were drifting past lunch time though, and I am not ready to offer afternoons to structured school.  I know we can get everything we need to do, done by lunch.  And not 3:00pm lunch.

Weekly Wrap Up : August 26th

In my life this week…

We are in week 3/4 (3 for the younger, 4 for the older) and things are going well.  We did have day with the older ones out helping their father cut down a tree.  The time flew by for me with the younger ones!  reminded me of when we just did Year 1!

We also trekked up to Fort Worth to see my Dad for his birthday this week.  Had a great visit, yummy lunch, and then we stopped and bought J some new pants (he has grown), jeans, and shoes.

In our homeschool this week…

We are settling into our routine.  This is a good place to be with 5 students schooling in 4 different grades.  I think we have worked out most of the bugs and we are getting everything, I was us to, done.

Weekly Wrap Up : July 1st

Summer-Edition mother journal

In my life this week...

We were so thrilled to be involved with VBS at First Baptist Church Malakoff.  I headed up the craft section with lots of help!  We had a blast detailing out our schedule for the week and prepping it all.  We were even more excited to see all the youth join us each day and help with the kids!

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

We also got to spend the evening with friends we have not seen in quite a while!  After a yummy dinner of fajitas we trucked out to see their new cows – 4 momma cows all pregnant.   They were a bit skittish – they were new to our friends and still not sure about all of the changes.

In my life this week...

Depending on when you start your week, I will say that we started our week with a day, Saturday, of selling at the Farmer’s Market! My kids are selling paracord stuff, and I am selling bread, jellies & jams, and some handmade items. We had lots of fun and plan to head back as much as we can this summer!!

We did not do much formal schooling, aside from math. Spent lots of time outside in the garden, a day in town dealing with property taxes, and a day working in the garage with Daddy, cleaning up!

Weekly Wrap-Up

homeschool journal

In my life this week...

It is spring break here in our neck of the woods, and while we normally do not take Spring Break, we did this week.   My in-laws blessed us with a great visit.  So while we did not do much formal schooling, we did plant some tomatoes (horticulture); cleaned out the garage (life skills); dumped chicken pooped on wood chips on the compost (Green living & horticulture); saw a movie (fun); and many more fun things that fall into life skills.  So who says you need to sit at a desk and open to a book to learn??

In our homeschool this week...

The boys did do their math most days to stay on track with that, and we finally finished this quarter’s literature book – Children of the New Forest.  It was a fantastic book – one of our favorites.  As I finished it and closed it AG said,  “The End – but we will get to read it again in a few years!”  I am already looking forward to that!!
