Book Review : Remembering Christmas

This is the second of 3 books I have to review for this coming Christmas Celebration!!  Reading these books in September and October may explain why I have already jumped into the Christmas Spirit and it is not yet Thanksgiving! I have loved it!

Remembering Christmas

by Dan Walsh

I really enjoyed reading this book.  It is a sweet story about a young  man, Rick, who goes “back home” when his step-father has an accident.  Rick does not have strong faith, in fact he is simply living his life to get the most money and stuff out of it.

While back home, helping out at his mother and step-father’s bookstore, that begins to change.  He starts to realize that many things he is clinging to, memories from his past and feelings, are simply wrong.  He realizes that his memories are not as accurate as he thought.

I loved how the quirky towns-people help Rick re-evaluate what his life stands for.

This story is really about Rick and finding himself amidst the holidays and the recent events in his life.  But I appreciated many other aspects that Dan Walsh brought in, aspects that a small town are known for : nosy neighbors, local diners, and the locals.

There is an element of romance in the story as Rick works alongside the young lady who helps out there.  They strike up a friendship immediately, but the question is whether Rick will become the man Andrea needs in her life before he goes back to his own life.

I loved reading this book, it was a sweet story that stayed in my mind long after I read the last page.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read to get them in the mood for the holidays!!

If you would like to check out the first chapter check out Dan Walsh’s blog!

NOTE : I received this book in exchange for an honest review, from Revell Books.
