Book Review : American Patriots

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to read out loud.  We do lots of this for school but it does not end there.  We have recently enjoyed Robert reading the Hobbit, we are currently enjoying The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring.

American Patriots is a book that we loved listening to as a family.  My boys have decided they just love history, and honestly I have to admit I do too!  I hated history as a kid, but now I think it is the way I was taught more than the subject!

So when we were offered a chance to review American Patriots, I knew our family would love it!

When it arrived I was thoroughly impressed with this little hard back book, a great patriotic cover, and chapter after chapter of many lesser known American heroes!  It is a small book, and one that easily fits in my purse, so we even enjoyed a chapter at Pizza Hut while we waited for our pizza to arrive!

This is a book that tells the stories of several individuals.  It is a historical book, a biography, and a captivating story all in one!  I highly recommend this book if you want to re-learn the truth about our country’s history.  These people who sacrificed so much, are so worth knowing.

PJ and book

Here is my biggest history buff, with this amazing book!

We really enjoyed the fact that many of these heroes are not the normal ones you learn about in your history class.  I liked that they were new to us, and that we were able to learn quite a bit about them even though they normally were under the radar in a traditional history book.

Personally I loved that Rick Santorum wrote this book, his love for our country is so obvious on every page as he recounts these stories.  I thought he did an amazing job painting a picture in your mind that makes you feel like you were there as you learn about these patriots.

I highly recommend this book, it would make a great Christmas present for the student, the historian, or the reader in your life!

Rick Santorum

Rick Santorum was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2012. His grassroots approach to campaigning catapulted him to frontrunner status. Prior to running for President, Rick served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995, and in the U.S. Senate from 1995 to 2007. Rick and his wife of 22 years, Karen, are the parents of seven wonderful children: Elizabeth, John, Daniel, Sarah Maria, Peter, Patrick and Isabella. Also an accomplished author, Rick penned the 2005 New York Times best seller It Takes a Family.

NOTE : I was offered American Patriots, at no cost in exchange for an honest review, by Tyndale House Publishers.
