Book Review : Love at any Cost

Every once in a while I am surprised by how much I enjoy a story.  I expect most stories to grab and keep my attention but every once in a while I get a book and wonder if I should have asked for it.

Well, this time I was pleasantly surprised.  While action, thrillers are my favorite book to read, I find myself enjoying the sweet stories of Historical Christian Romance.

Love at any Cost, by Julie Lessman,  is a story about a young woman in Texas, whose fiancé called off the wedding a week before the big day.  His reasons have to do with her father losing money in the oil business.  So, Cassidy travels to California to stay with her aunt and cousins.

There are so many things to love about this story!  First, one of the main subjects addressed multiple times was the importance of marrying a man who loves The Lord.  I loved that Cassidy’s Aunt told her why this was important, from you her own past, and why it was God’s design.

I enjoyed the characters – I enjoyed how much they relished time together and really valued each other.  I thought Julie did a fantastic job creating characters you connected with immediately, and characters who you wanted to watch grow through the story.

This is a perfect spring/summer read – it is a story you will enjoy from the first page to the last!

NOTE : I was offered a copy of Love At Any Cost, by Revell Publishers

in exchange for an honest review.
