I have said this before, but I will repeat it, I enjoy reading books I can share with my small gang of boys. This was a book that I enjoyed, and I was more than happy to share it too!
Tale of the Defended Ones by Beth Guckenberger is a book of stories. Not just a few kids stories, but BIG stories about how God moved in the lives of some children. These are miraculous stories on many levels and I found them very inspiring, encouraging and all around wonderful!
This is a book that would be great for a family devotions, reading each story and then talking about how God moved in each child’s life.
There are 4 different children featured in these stories – four different lives tragically damaged until you see God move. My favorite part of this book was seeing what God was doing with the other people in the story at the same time. You would see how God placed a heart of adoption into a little girl, who one day grew up to adopt an orphan who desperately needed a family to love them.
My 12 year old son also read this book – in about an afternoon – and he enjoyed it as well. He enjoyed seeing where each story took place, and learning about the suffering in different parts of the world. He also thought the way each of these children learned about God and gave their hearts to him, after seeing how He rescued them.
I love that these stories are true, about a God who loves all of us, and that they teach a message of hope!!
I highly recommend this VERY family friendly book!!
