Stress Test is a novel written by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. While I have not read any of Dr. Mabry’s previous novels, I loved this one!
The story grabs you from the very beginning – the kidnapping of Dr. Newman. While Dr. Newman narrowly escapes the kidnapping, he is not safe. No matter what he does, it seems the trouble is following him, determined to end his life!
I enjoyed both Matt Newman and Sandra Murray’s characters – she was his lawyer. While Sandra is a Christian willing to stand for her faith, Matt is a man who has really chosen to leave his faith in his past. However, when his trouble begins, he starts to really struggle with his faith and what he believes. When he begins to turn to God, he makes sure to realize that God is not the genie in the bottle we run to when life is tough.
I enjoyed the suspense and action of this story, but I also enjoyed watching Matt come back to a personal relationship with Jesus, as well as watching a personal relationship bloom with Sandra.
