In my life this week...
we had a good week, more normal than not. We schooled most of the week, worked on nature displays in the school one day, and ran around one day. We had 4h this week, which is always fun, too.
In our homeschool this week...
We are studying the pilgrims a bunch these days, lots of great books to supplement our history books – we found some good ones at the library and the boys are reading those on their own (love that!).
Math is cruising along. P hit the same bump in the road his brother did 10 lessons ago – double-digit multiplication. But seemed to get through okay and is doing well again. First time I have had to “teach” math to them – and I think, same lesson!
Places we're going and people we're seeing...
We made it to 4h and learned lots about record books, which are a sort of transcript for the year of all that they did through 4h. This will be our first year to do one, and we will do one for each boy. I am excited. I am really looking forward to next year in 4h with all we now know! And we can really jump in knowing where we want to be next spring now that we understand so much more!
We made it to our church garage sale for missions. Each of the kids got their “commission” before going, so they had their OWN money to spend & not mine! They all found some treasures – can’t beat getting stuff for a dollar or so, compared to at least 10 at Wal-mart!
My favorite thing this week was...
Collecting Eggs! We have been getting eggs since Saturday and it has been so fun for the kids and I to find eggs in the nesting boxes each day! As of today we have 15 total – tomorrow will be our first breakfast of home-raised eggs!! We are thrilled. 2 of our Arcana Hens lay green eggs and one lays an orange-ish egg. We got our first brown egg today (from a Buff Orpington). Pretty cool to see all the colors!
What's working/not working for us...
Working – being okay with not getting more done in a week than we should & not feeling like I need to pack more in to finish sooner. We will finish at the right time and we are enjoying playing along the way.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share...
I already shared this this week, but love it and wanted to share it again!!
We love gathering all the different colored eggs each day here too! Most of my arcaunas are really old and not laying much now, but we still get a green egg or a blue one here and there. I definitely need more arcaunas this year!
ReplyDeleteSounds like school is pretty smooth sailing for you right now! I am happy for you!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a great week. I wish we could raise hens. I love eggs, but I have an egg allergy and cannot eat them:( I'm the only one in the family who eats eggs. Oh well...
