Book Review : A Place Called Blessing

An amazing friend recommended that I read the book called The Blessing by John Trent and Gary Smalley, about 17 years ago.  She knew that I had some fractured relationships, and she knew this book would be a great place to start to deal with some past hurts.

When I saw this book : A Place Called Blessing by John Trent and Annette Smith, I knew that I was going to read it!  Recently, I resolved to read The Blessing again, as a mom, hoping to apply its teachings in my life with children, and I knew this new book would take these concepts to a different level.

A Place Called Blessing is a novel version of the book The Blessing, this is to say that this story takes all the elements of The Blessing and shows how they could be applied in a difficult situation.  The story deals with life within the foster care system, the hurt past mistakes cause, and the ultimate need for forgiveness to everyone, including ourselves.

You will laugh out loud while reading this book, and you will wipe more than a couple tears away as well.  The characters are amazing, I immediately loved them.  I knew the end was coming, but this is the kind of book that you want to keep going, you want to know what happens next.

This is a very quick read, I finished it in two days, and a very easy read.  I plan to pass this along to my avid, 10 year old reader as well.  I highly recommend this book!
